Wellness by Kels started as a personal documentation of my health and wellness journey in 2019. However, it went from aesthetic creative outlet to full-blown passion project as COVID-19 reared its head.
Sent home during my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina, I began posting content intentionally. In the early days where even going to the grocery store was a no, I sought to share more creative healthy options and lifestyle choices.
You don't need a fully organic supermarket, yoga studio, or 100% cheat-free routine to live a healthy life. I wanted to share that with anyone who felt trapped under the pandemic's thumb. Suddenly, social media became the cup on the end of the string.
But I wasn't fulfilled by the doom-scrolling.
It all began with a butternut squash forgotten at the bottom of my pantry, a couple of eggs, and a piece of stale bread to make a breakfast no one had ever thought of before.
I began posting unconventional recipes I threw together, mindful quotes scribbled down in a journal, and simple but aesthetic things.
Shouting into the void of 1's and 0's was fun, but everything changed when people started shouting back.
I took advantage of my new online social network and developed a passion for social media and the self-taught skills that came with it.
Meticulously watching Lightroom YouTube tutorials led to experiments with the aesthetic of a feed, and I brought confidence on camera to marketing internships later on.
Product recommendations led to affiliate links, and my page took on a whole new level of authority in sharing things that I use everyday. I've had the pleasure of working as an influencer or ambassador with brands like:
- CLEARSTEM Skincare
- Sonage Skincare
- Fody Foods
- JavaPresse
- BulletProof
- LNDR Activewear
- BeachRiot Activewear
- and more
I found value in posting value, acting as both a resource and inspiration for others on their own health and wellness journey.
